good value March 8, 2010 Leonard Orlandini (CHICAGO, IL United States) works as advertised it does what is is supposed to do for the price, you can hear the fan, but with an music or tv it is not noticeable, low battery auto shut off works very fast
I bought this primarily to use my laptop in the car and.... March 8, 2010 Octfcu (Irvine, CA) It works perfectly. I noticed someone saying it did not work and I wanted others to know that it does work and works well. The only issue I have seen over the years is some cars blow there fuse and you need to replace it with a larger fuse. That was 2 years ao in a 2008 Fusion but I have not had any issues in my 2009 Taurus or my 2010 Fusion. As you can see these were issues with the amount of power you could draw and not the unit itself. Buy this knowing it woll work perfectly with a laptop.
Xantrex 400 Watt Inverter February 14, 2010 tradewinds780 (Miami,Fl) I bought this inverter to charge my Apple MacBook Pro. I use the PowerBook on my small sailboat to run navigation software so it runs 24 hours and must be very reliable.
Previously I tried two other 100 Watt inverters. They would run the Powerbook but not charge it. This charges the PowerBook as fast as it does at home and uses very little amperage to both charge it and also when it is in standby.
It is very sturdily built and should have a long life on the boat. I have been using it with the cigarette lighter cord but like that it also comes with a battery clip cord for heavier use.
Does not provide enough power for laptop without the car engine running. February 8, 2010 SL (San Jose, CA USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I tried using this inverter on both a sedan and a mini-van. It cannot even provide the needed power for a single laptop. I must have the engine running in order to use it. This inverter is simply useless.
Does what it should - It converts!! February 5, 2010 W. Flower (So Cal USA) Very happy with this unit. It powered my laptop without any issues on a recent 2000 mile trip. Also came in handy for a few other little things. It now lives in the vehicle as it has proven itself useful. It has not let me down.
Operation is nice and simple. The fan kicks on as needed and is pretty quiet, I can't hear it when I'm driving.
No complaints at all.
